2008 All-West Virginia Academic Team

 

About Phi Theta Kappa


Established in 1918 by Missouri two-year college presidents, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership and service programming. 

Today, Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 1.3 million members and 1100 chapters located in 50 united states, U.S. territories, Canada, Germany, and Japan.  In 1929, the American Association of Community Colleges recognized Phi Theta Kappa as the official honor society for two-year colleges.

 

 

 

Ceremony


The 2008 Phi Theta Kappa All-West Virginia Academic Team Ceremony took place on April 18, 2008 in the Governors Reception Room, where the Governor and First Lady presented a certificate and medallion to the following students to honor their achievement:

New Century Scholar

Ms. JoAnn Norman received recognition as the New Century Scholar for West Virginia. Ms. Norman was selected from 1,600 nominations to the prestigious All-USA Academic SECOND TEAM and will receive a $2,000 stipend funded by the Coca-Cola Foundation.
