Although she has faced many obstacles, Michele has let nothing stop her on her academic journey at Southern. She is an excellent example of why the TANF Program is so successful at Southern. She expressed that she liked Southern for several reasons: The campus is close to her residence, so she could get a quality education without traveling a long distance.
Amanda Duckworth, ‘17 Legal Studies Alumna, now works at the Jackson County Day Report Center and plans to continue her education with our Bachelor of Applied Science in Legal Studies “The faculty and staff treated me like family and worked with me through various personal circumstances to ensure my success. The one-on-one attention I received at WVU Parkersburg helped me achieve my career goals," said Duckworth.
Larry Wilmoth II
Larry Wilmoth II, ‘17 Technology Alumnus, obtained employment with Simonton Windows, where he is currently an E&I Technician in their maintenance department. “At WVU Parkersburg I learned from instructors that know what local employers want. They teach what you need to know to get the job you want," said Wilmoth.
Teresa Wamer Bigley
Teresa Wamer Bigley, D.O., ‘11 RBA graduate continued following her dreams beyond WVU Parkersburg and completed medical school at the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine. “I am the first in my family to graduate from college, and now I’m a Doctor. I came to WVU Parkersburg because I wanted a better life, but I got so much more in return," said Bigley.
